Pre and Post Workout Snacks
Remember to eat a healthy breakfast before your A.M. workout. If you are working out later in the day, grab an apple or banana. Also, if you have a vigorous weekly work-out schedule, don't forget to add some protein to your diet. This can include a glass of skim milk, reduced-fat string cheese, low-fat yogurt or a slice of deli meat. Make sure you take a look at the nutrition facts of yogurt. Some of them are surprisingly high in sugar.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Any chance I get to create a themed playlist for my cycle class, I do it. So for St. Patty's day I created a playlist of Celtic Rock bands. I threw in two Scottish bands, because I really like these songs and they are fun to exercise too. Hope the "Luck of the Irish" follows you tomorrow and enjoy this rockin' Celtic playlist:
- Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me - U2 - warm-up
- Requiem For A Dying Song - Flogging Molly (Live at the Greek Theatre) - fast seated flat, get those legs warmed up
- Chelsea Dagger - The Fratellis - jumps at the chorus. This is a Scottish band, by the way, but it's a fun song.
- Spitting Games - Snow Patrol - steady fast pace, slow down @ 1:24 - add some gear. Pick up pace @ 1:54, take away gear. repeat.
- Amazing Grace - Dropkick Murphys - take a quick break and then begin your sprint @:41. Go for it!
- I Can Talk - Two Door Cinema Club - sprints @ chorus. This a fast paced song and perfect for sprints.
- Vertigo (Redanka Power Mix) - U2 - @ 2:00, add the gear and standing charge up the hill. Hit the beat of the music. 3:45, slow it down, add more gear. 5:10 take away some gear and charge down hill, hover.
- I'm Shipping Up To Boston - Dropkick Murphys - standing climb, hover and double time at chorus. Sit at 1:30.
- I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) - The Proclaimers - another Scottish band. You may remember this song from the movie "Benny and June". Jumps at chorus. Up for 8, sit for 8.
- Love You 'Till The End - The Pogues - begin in a climb and then we will come back down and begin our cool down.
- Linger - The Cranberries - cool down

Movie Spin
I consider myself a movie and music buff; therefore, it made complete sense to me to create a movie themed playlist. So in honor of the Oscars, I created a playlist featuring music from movies nominated for the 2010 Oscars. Not to leave out the movies nominated for the Razzies, I included those too :) The following songs are from movies past and present. Enjoy!
Okay, so I know I included a lot of tunes from the Twilight movies -- sorry dudes -- but the movie soundtracks are too good not to be played. Look forward to the soundtracks more so than the movies!
Uprising - Muse - warm-up, from the movie Knight and Day
I'm A Believer - Weezer - fast seated flat; from the movie Shrek, Forever After
Spotlight (Twilight Mix) - Mutemath - sprints at chorus; from the movie Twilight
Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones - fast seated flat; This song gets played a lot in the movies, but most recently Date Night.
Ready, Steady, Go - Paul Oakenfold - sprints; from the movie The Bourne Identity
Heavy in Your Arms - Florence + The Machine - heavy climb; from the movie Eclipse
Cobrastyle Featuring Mad Cobra - Teddybears - fast flat; Most recently from the movies Date Night and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I love, love spinning to this song.
Supermassive Blackhole - Muse - climb, then hover continuing the climb at the chorus. From the movie Twilight -- vampire baseball anyone??
Time - Hans Zimmer - Heavy climb that starts building at 1:01 every 30 seconds. Once the build starts every 30 seconds more instrumentation and energy gets added in. it peaks at 3:01 for the last 30 seconds before returning to the intro rhythm. From the movie Inception. Can someone please explain this movie to me? Also, this soundtrack is $5 for the month of March.
In the Hall of the Mountain King - Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross - catch your breath at the beginning because we are going to pick up the pace. Okay, so I loved NIN when I was in college and I still can't believe that Trent Reznor won an Oscar for his score for the The Social Network. He's all 'growed' up, sniff, sniff.

Sweet Disposition - The Temper Trap - This is our finale. Rolling hills. At the chorus we will take off the resistance and fly down those hills. This song was featured in the indie movie [500] Days of Summer.
Cool Down:
Hand Covers Bruise - Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross - from The Social Network, I might add that I've watched this movie twice. Very good movie.
Everything to Lose - Dido - from movie Sex and the City 2
